About the job

At Nansen you will build the AI agents and automated workflows that marketing and digital teams use every day. You’ll work alongside a senior engineer on client projects, take ownership of the build, and learn how to turn a business problem into a system running in production.

Nansen helps marketing and digital leaders get more done with the people, platforms and budgets they already have. We draw on AI agents, integrations and workflows proven on real client work, adapt them to each business, build what hasn’t been solved yet, and measure what changes. We’re a team of 25 across the US and UK, and the people who plan the work are the people who build it.

In the AI practice, that means putting agents to work inside a client’s day-to-day operations. For one client, a review that took nine people nine hours each now runs overnight and takes minutes to read. Every solution we build goes into a shared library, so each project starts further ahead than the last.

Job description

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you build the agents, integrations and tools behind our clients’ AI workflows. A senior engineer sets the technical direction on each project, and you take the build from an agreed scope to production.

  • You build AI agents and workflows in TypeScript and Python, from first prototype to production
  • You write tests that check AI output is accurate and consistent, before and after launch
  • You connect agents to the systems they depend on, including client APIs, content platforms and CRMs
  • You join client workshops and project reviews, so you hear requirements first hand
  • You document what you build so the client’s team can run it after handover
  • You share what you learn with the team, and turn solutions that work into reusable patterns for future projects

Preferred requirements and experiences

  • Has 2+ years of professional software development experience, with code that has run in production
  • Has working knowledge of TypeScript and Python
  • Has hands-on experience building with large language models, at work or on personal projects (for example prompt design, tool calling or retrieval)
  • Has experience integrating with third-party APIs
  • Has clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical work to non-technical people
  • Has an interest in working directly with clients

You might also have the following

  • Experience with Optimizely (CMS, Content Marketing Platform or its AI platform)
  • Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar integration tooling
  • Experience testing AI output in a structured way
  • Experience with serverless platforms such as Cloudflare Workers or Vercel
